A Baxter County man, 35-year-old Daniel Robert Adams of Mountain Home, has been arrested and charged with third-degree battery after a woman called law enforcement Wednesday morning to report a victim in the road. The woman said the victim was in front of her house along Old Arkana Road and appeared to be badly hurt.

According to a Baxter County Sheriff’s Office report, the deputy found the male victim with blood coming from his nose, but without any other visible markings of an assault.

The victim told the deputy he had arrived from Louisiana the previous evening with a man he identified as Adams.

The man said he slept in a vehicle, became cold and grabbed some papers from the cab to start a fire on the ground for warmth.

He said Adams saw what he was doing and threw him to the ground, hurting his back. While on the ground Adams allegedly struck the man with a closed fist, resulting in his bloody nose.

The victim said he walked a short distance from where the altercation took place and collapsed due to his pain.

Contact was made with Adams, who allegedly admitted to the assault because of the victim starting the fire.

Bond for Adams was set at $2,100, according to the online jail log.
