A man from Searcy County wrecked a truck he stole in Baxter County, broke into a home in Stone County and then was captured a few hours later in Marion County. Thirty-three-year old Dusty Allan Rhodes of Harriet was taken into custody after the vehicle he stole during the home invasion was discovered at a Dollar General store in Marion County Tuesday afternoon and law enforcement conducted a search of the area and found him.

Stone County deputies were dispatched to the home invasion around 6:30 Tuesday morning on Arkansas Highway 263 in Onia. Upon arrival, deputies discovered an individual wrecked a vehicle in front of the victim’s house and then forcibly entered the home and stole various items of property, including a vehicle parked at the residence.

Detectives from the Stone County Sheriff’s Office called to investigate the scene identified Rhodes as a suspect and a nationwide BOLO, or a be on the lookout, was issued for Rhodes and the vehicle he stole.

The vehicle was located abandoned at the Dollar General in Pyatt, and, following a short search of the area, Rhodes was taken into custody by the Arkansas Highway Police early Tuesday afternoon.

Rhodes is facing felony charges in Stone County of residential burglary, theft of property, theft by receiving and two counts of breaking or entering. He is also facing a penalty enhancement for being a habitual offender.

The vehicle Rhodes wrecked was stolen March 17th in Baxter County. According to information from the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office, a woman reported her truck was stolen by the same man who helped her get it out of a ditch earlier in the day. He drove it to her house for her and then returned a short time later, apparently with the key still in his possession, and stole the vehicle.

Rhodes was seen on surveillance video at a convenience store Monday driving the vehicle before crashing it in Stone County early Tuesday morning.

A warrant has been issued for his arrest on charges of felony theft and being a habitual offender.
