A Harrison man who attempted to outrun the cops setting off a high-speed chase that ran through three Arkansas Counties and one in Missouri was arrested after crashing his bike in Ozark County.

Twenty-eight-year-old Logan Dakota Johnson appeared in Baxter County Circuit Court Monday and pled not guilty to a pile of traffic violations, both felonies and misdemeanors.

The part of the chase in Baxter County began April 12 shortly before midnight.

According to probable cause affidavits filed by the Mountain Home Police Department and Baxter County Sheriff’s Office, Johnson had reportedly initially been pursued in Boone County by an Arkansas State Police trooper but eluded capture.

A Mountain Home police officer saw the blue sports bike on U.S. Highway 62 West which was reported not to have a valid registration.
Johnson’s record showed him to be a parolee with active arrest warrants issued by the Bentonville Police Department and sheriff’s offices in Searcy and Madison counties.

When the Mountain Home officer engaged the emergency lights on his patrol vehicle, Johnson hit the gas instead of the brakes.

The chase covered a large area, going into and out of the Mountain Home City limits, along major highways, city streets, making an illegal U-turn and disregarding a traffic light at Buzzard Roost Road, passing vehicles while driving on the yellow line, passing vehicles in the turn lanes, driving in the wrong lanes and crashing into patrol cars.

Speeds in the Baxter County phase of the chase reportedly reached 109 miles per hour.

Supervisors ordered the Mountain Home officer to discontinue the chase because of the extremely high speed and the fact it was taking place on city streets and highways.

Baxter County sheriff’s deputies became involved as Johnson sped up State Highway 5 North and they continued to chase Johnson into Missouri where Ozark County sheriff’s deputies joined the pursuit.

The motorcycle eventually crashed on U.S. Highway 160 West near Gainesville. It slammed into the side of an Ozark County patrol car, causing the bike to leave the road striking a fence.

Johnson was thrown from the motorcycle and landed in a field. He got up and began running through the field until he was brought down by deputies.

While chasing Johnson through the field, a Baxter County Deputy sustained an injury to his left ankle.

Johnson was taken into custody and is now an inmate in the Baxter County jail.

Johnson’s charges in Baxter County include fleeing, speeding, failure to register a vehicle, driving while license suspended, improper passing, disobeying stop signs and lights, reckless driving, driving left of center, failure to show proof of ownership and not having liability insurance.
