A man has been arrested after he allegedly slammed his girlfriend’s face into the road, hit her several times and threatened to kill her. Multiple charges have been filed against 33-year-old Michael Frederick Amrhein of Mammoth Spring.

According to the probable cause affidavit from the Mammoth Spring Police Department, officers were called to a residence Saturday night by a neighbor who reported a domestic disturbance was in progress.   When they arrived, they met the victim who screamed “he attacked me.” Amrhein ran out the back door, across Arkansas Highway 9 and into a wooded area. Tracking dogs from the North Central Unit at Calico Rock were brought in to search for the suspect who was apprehended about three hours after he fled the house.

The victim told officers Amrhein had asked her to come over to talk, but started yelling at her. She tried to leave and he slammed her face first into the road, cracking her tooth, and then took her phone. While she was on the ground, the victim alleges Amrhein hit her several times while slamming her into the road.

The victim says she yelled for the neighbor to call the cops. After the neighbor called for help, he asked the victim to come to his house, but she said “I can’t, he told me if I don’t go up there, he will kill me.”

Amrhein is charged with a felony count of terroristic threatening and misdemeanor counts of fleeing on foot, battery in the third degree and interference with emergency communication. He is being held in the Fulton County Jail on bonds totaling $10,000.
