Some visitors of the Buffalo National River may be without a water supply. According to river officials, the water system in the Steel Creek area is currently out of order.

The water line has reportedly developed several leaks making water service to Steel Creek unsustainable. Construction of a new water line will begin in mid-July and is expected to be completed by the end of August.

For the time being, Steel Creek visitors will need to supply their own drinking water. Flush restrooms are currently unavailable, but portable toilets have been placed at the launch and tent campground for the public to utilize. The park is continuing to honor all current Steel Creek Campground reservations through August, but no new reservations are currently being accepted.
