A man and a woman from Izard County have been arrested following reports of unlawful entry to a residence in Horseshoe Bend. Sixty-six-year-old Daniel Herrick and 44-year-old Wendy Fowler-Jenkins are facing charges of unlawful entry and theft of property.

According to the probable cause affidavit, on June 24, a man who claimed suspects were in his home contacted deputies from the Izard County Sheriff’s Office. Upon arrival, deputies observed two suspects, later identified as Herrick and Fowler-Jenkins, leaving the residence.

When questioned, the suspects claimed the city of Horseshoe Bend paid them to clean the property. Fowler-Jenkins told authorities a city employee had given her a key to the house. The key, confiscated because the ring had a knife on it, was identified by the victim as his missing key.

A black bag was found on the porch, and both the victim and the suspects told deputies it did not belong to them. After searching the bag, a toolset belonging to the victim was found, alongside other household items, clothes, markers, and coloring books, which allegedly did not belong to him. Both Herrick and Fowler-Jenkins were placed into custody. Pictures were provided to authorities showing Jenkins-Fowler at the residence on June 21.

In a written statement, the victim said, “Someone drove by and called me saying people were walking around my yard in my house. When I showed up, they found my hidden keys and went into my house. I’m missing two skill brand hand saws, boxes of screws, drill bits, pex plumbing tools, hammers, screwdrivers, a pry bar and a sledgehammer. Some of my stuff was found in a bag left on my porch. So much stuff to even list. Approximately $700-1000 value in stuff missing.”

Fowler-Jenkins and Herrick were booked into the Izard County Detention Center. Both are facing felony counts of breaking or entering and misdemeanor counts of theft of property. Herrick was released on a $10,000 bond, and Fowler-Jenkins is still being held on a $10,000 bond.
