Buffalo National River is seeking public comments on a draft plan which will provide more inclusive experiences for visitors with disabilities. The draft plan, a self-evaluation and transition plan (SETP), identifies areas in the park where the accessibility of public structures, campsites, river access points, signs and services can be improved.

The SETP outlines specific areas where accessibility barriers exist and identifies steps towards solutions. These opportunities for improvement will be a roadmap for future upgrades.

Angela Boyers, the Superintendent of Buffalo National River, says “By better understanding the needs of today’s visitors, the park can work towards accessible solutions that accommodate the public. Our goal is to provide recreational opportunities that can be enjoyed by everyone.”

The draft SETP document will be available for public review and comment until July 31 at https://parkplanning.nps.gov/BUFF_SETP. Officials say all comments, including personal identifying information, may be made publicly available at any time. Respondents may request their comments and personal information are withheld from public review, the park cannot guarantee it will be able to do so.
