While the remnants of what was Hurricane Francine has brought rainfall to the Twin Lakes Area, the total precipitation has turned out to be less than expected. At KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot, the official reporting station for the National Weather Service, Monday’s rainfall gives the area measurable precipitation in four of the last five days.

As of 4:45 Monday afternoon, a total of .63 of an inch of rain has been recorded since 7 in the morning. That puts the total brought by Francine to 1.58 inches. The precipitation came following 10 consecutive days of no rainfall being recorded.

While the skies have looked mostly gloomy since Thursday afternoon, they haven’t brought as much rainfall in north central Arkansas as other portions of the state. Three quarters of an inch were recorded Friday morning. The area also had .12 of an inch Saturday morning, no measurable rain Sunday morning and .08 of an inch Monday morning.

So far, September has had a total of 1.9 inches of rain. That is 1.76 inches below the month’s average precipitation of 3.66 inches with almost half of the month remaining.
