Mary Ann Messick, 79 Monkey Run (Roller)
Graveside funeral services for local historian 79 year old Mary Ann Messick of Monkey Run will be Friday morning at 10 at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery under the direction of Roller Funeral Home. Visitation for Mary Ann Messick will be Thursday from noon to 9 p.m. at Roller Funeral Home with the family receiving friends in the evening from 5:30 to 7.
Mary Ann Messick wrote the book "The History of Baxter County." The retired Postmaster of the Gassville Post Office where she began working in 1964, Mary Ann Messick was a member of Pilgrims Rest Baptist Church where she served as organist and Sunday school class teacher. She was also active in the White River Baptist Association and a volunteer at Cotter Elementary School.
Mary Ann Messick is survived locally by sisters Alma Franks and Leona Cheek, both of Monkey Run.
