Harrison, Ark., January 2010 – First Federal Bank is pleased to announce that Lad Langley, First
Federal’s Facility Engineer, was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal for his outstanding career
with the U.S. Army Reserve. Captain Marc Richardson presented the medal at Langley’s
retirement ceremony from the reserves. Captain Richardson and Staff Sergeant Tony Brown and
also presented him with a framed Charlie Company guidon.

“Lad’s outstanding career with the military spans 22 years of active and reserve service,” said
Larry J. Brandt, Chief Executive Officer of First Federal. “We are proud of Lad’s years of service
to the military and the Bank.”

Langley most recently served as First Sergeant with the combat engineer soldiers of the 688th
MAC Army Reserve unit based in Harrison. He received numerous medals and awards during his
military career, and had three combat tours to the Middle East.

“On Lad’s second combat tour, Jeff Brandt, First Federal’s Executive Vice President/Eastern Division, and Rodney Campbell, First Federal’s Eastern Division Operations Facilitator, served with him in the same battalion,” Larry Brandt added. “A total of 83 years of military service is reflected in the Army careers of myself and these three Team Members.”

The narrative for the Meritorious Service award states, “First Sergeant Langley is a mentor and
leader who is considered a Soldier’s Soldier. His proactive leadership, disciplined patience, and
unfettered selflessness has had a direct impact and positive influence on the hundreds of soldiers
across the United States Army Reserves. Under his training, guidance and mentorship, the
Company executed two deployments to Iraq without a life lost.”

It continues, “In 2008, he trained his Soldiers, NCOs and advised his officers, which enabled his
men to execute over 586 Combat Route Clearance Patrols, clearing 33,530 kilometers of
Baghdad, undoubtedly saving the lives of Coalition Forces, Iraqi Security Forces, and local
nationals traveling in and around the Baghdad area.”

Langley started his military career on February 5, 1987, and began working at the Bank in
February 2002.
