Vehicle Plunges Over 50 Feet Off Bridge

A woman was rescued shortly after 3 this afternoon from a vehicle that went off the west approach to the Highway 62 Bridge over Lake Norfork. The unidentified female was transported by ambulance to Baxter Regional Medical Center. She was conscious and talking after the accident. No other passengers were in the vehicle, which is described as a late model Ford, that was eastbound when it went off the north side of the approach to the bridge and landed 50 to 75 feet below the bridge on a rocky embankment near a service road. The accident is being investigated by Trooper David Small of the Arkansas State Police.
