OVER 200 MARK THE 150th ANNIVERSARY
Over 200 folks gathered along the banks of Calico Creek in Rand Park to mark the 150th anniversary of the Civil War Skirmish at Calico Rock on Saturday, May 26. The volunteer regiment of re-enactors fired several cannon volleys.
During the event, Keepin’ It Simple restaurant sold barbecue lunches and iced cold drinks, which was much appreciated in the sweltering heat. Ozark EMS was on hand to provide fans to the crowd and were ready to assist had a medical need arisen.
The Calico Rock Museum Foundation sold two autographed copies of the New York Times best-selling book Calico Joe by famed author John Grisham. Grisham provided the foundation ten autographed books. The sale of the first two books raised $300 for the foundation through a silent auction.
