The Communications, Arts and Business Academy at Mountain Home High School recently held a 5K race with 4th and 5th grade students from Hackler Intermediate School which raised $1780 for the Reppell Diabetes Center at Baxter Regional Medical Center. CAB sponsor and teacher Kathy Wham says this is the second year the high school students hosted the Hackler Healthy Kids 5 K to promote a healthy and active lifestyle for the kids. Representatives from the Reppell Diabetes Center provided water, bananas and granola bars to the participants in the 5K which was supported by the Active Lifestyle Institute at Baxter Regional Medical Center and Wells Fargo Investment Advisors.
The students from CAB WRAP, which is Communication, Arts and Business Academy and Wells Fargo Advisors Rewarding Academic Progress, has a goal of recognizing the 4th and 5th graders who go above and beyond their academic progress. Wham says studies show that by the age of nine to eleven, students decide whether or not they want to apply effort in school and complete their education.
The CAB WRAP business organization is led by high school senior co-CEO's Macey Kemp and Kourtney Phares and is sponsored by Mountain Home High School teachers Kathy Wham and Danny Osburne.
