Carter wins Elks State Hoop Shoot

The Elks Hoop Shoot Free Throw Contest held its state competition on Saturday in Hot Springs, and the Mountain Home Elks Lodge #1714 was well repesented.
Hannah Carter of Tecumseh was the winner of the eight- and nine-year-old girls' division. Carter took first place after hitting 18 out of 25 free-throw attempts. She will advance to the regional contest that will be held Saturday, March 9th, in Paris, Tennessee.
Another local girl was able to place in her age group. Gainesville's Shelby Smith finished third among the 12- and 13-year-olds as she also went 18 of 25 from the line.
