Henderson man arrested on drug charges
By: Staff
A Henderson man was arrested this week in Salem on felony drug charges. Salem Chief of Police Shad Overman says 25 year old Nicholas Weeks was charged with two counts of providing false information or prescriptions to obtain a controlled substance, tampering with physical evidence, aggravated assault and resisting arrest. Weeks is currently being held in the Fulton County Jail on $100,000 bond and a hold was placed on him by Baxter County for probation violation.
Weeks arrest, according to Chief Overman, followed an investigation of a man attempting to obtain a schedule 2 narcotic from Guffey's Pharmacy with a forged prescription. When confronted by authorities, Weeks began fighting with the officer and attempted to flee the store. Weeks was subdued by the officer with the assistance of the store owner until additional officers arrived. During the struggle, Weeks attempted to eat the prescription to destroy the evidence.
The Salem Police department was assisted by officers from the Fulton County Sheriff's department, 16th Judicial District Drug Task Force and Arkansas State Police.
