Thursday basketball, swimming and bowling results

     In high school basketball last night, the Bakersfield girls whipped Cabool 72-38 at the Thayer Tournament. Betsy Minkler had 21 points for the Lady Lions, Kody Smith scored 19 and Kristin Marsh added 13.

     The Gainesville girls topped Mansfield 56-31. Madison Strong led the Lady Bulldogs with 26 points. The Gainesville girls improve to 8-8 on the season and will travel to Hartville Monday night.


     In junior high hoops, the Mountain Home 8th grade girls began play in the Nixa Tournament with a loss. The 8th grade Lady Bombers fell to the host Lady Eagles 33-16.

     Cotter split four junior high games with Flippin. Flippin won the junior boy's game 34-23. The Junior Warriors fall to 4-22 on the season.
     Flippin toped Cotter in the junior girl's contest 32-13.
     Cotter won the 7th grade boy's game 44-20. Dawson Burns paced Cotter with 23 points as they improve to 10-1 on the season.
     The Cotter 7th grade girls are now 8-1 after beating Flippin 23-15.

     Izard County won both of their junior high games against Salem. In the junior girl's game, Izard County rallied to win 49-43. Seventh grader Jen King had 23 points and nine rebounds for the Junior Lady Cougars as they won their 15th straight game to improve to 17-3.
     In the boy's game, Izard County defeated Salem 40-28 to improve to 16-4. Clay Mosley had 17 points and Julio Martinez added 15 points and 15 rebounds.


     The Mountain Home high school swim team traveled to Cabot. The Lady Bombers finished second behind Conway. The team set three new school records. Carly Arp won two events, Megan Chaney won the breaststroke and Mackenzie Mohler won the butterfly.
     The Mountain Home boys finished third behind Conway and North Little Rock. The Bombers won the 400 free relay and had a state qualifying time in the medley relay.


     In high school bowling, the annual Norfork Invitational was held yesterday at Driftwood Lanes in Mountain Home. On the boy's side, Norfork won, Flippin was second, Melbourne finished third and Concord was fourth. For Norfork, Zane Harris had games of 245 and 197 and Jacob Braun rolled a 205 and 180.
     In the girl's action, Flippin finished first, Norfork was second, Concord was third and Melbourne finished fourth. For the Lady Panthers, Cheyenne Olsen had games of 172 and 155 and Kayla Wiser had a 148.
     The Norfork teams will travel to Batesville Wednesday to take on Southside.
