HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (AP) _ Officials at Oaklawn Park in Hot Springs say the horse
racing track has been repaired following heavy weekend rains.
Assistant General Manager David Longinotti said in a news release Tuesday that
the damage appeared worse than it was and that Oaklawn will reopen Thursday.
Thursday's races will mark the first of five straight racing days that will end
Monday with the $150,000 Smarty Jones Stakes. Post times are 1:30 p.m. Thursday,
Friday and Sunday and 1 p.m. on Saturday and Monday.
The weekend rains forced officials to call off racing on Saturday and Sunday _
but plans are to make up the running of Saturday's $60,000 Dixie Belle stakes on
Jan. 20.
