An Elizabeth woman has been released from the Izard County Jail after posting bond following her arrest on drug charges. Izard County Sheriff Tate Lawrence says 40 year old Johnnie Melinda Ray was charged with two counts of felony possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, with intent to deliver; felony possession of drug paraphernalia for purpose of repackaging; plus misdemeanor drug and traffic charges. She was released from jail after posting $10,000 bond.

Ray’s arrest followed a traffic stop for failure to use a turn signal. At the time of her arrest, a canine drug with the Izard County deputy detected the odor of marijuana. During a search of the vehicle suspected methamphetamine, a green leafy substance and rolling papers, various pills and a large amount of cash was recovered.

The 16th Judicial District Drug Task Force assisted the Izard County Sheriff in Johnnie Melinda Ray arrest. She is scheduled to appear in circuit court in December.
