Live in San Diego with Special Guest JJ Cale will be available on DVD and Blu-ray, and will feature footage from the same March 2007 show at the iPayOne Center documented for the audio collection, which was released as a two-CD and three-LP vinyl set in September.
At the concert, Clapton and his touring band played a variety of classic originals and blues covers. In addition, the guitar legend’s friend and collaborator JJ Cale hit the stage with Eric and company for a set of his own compositions, including renditions of the Clapton hits “Cocaine” and “After Midnight,” and a trio songs from the two musicians’ 2006 collaborative release, The Road to Escondido. To close out the show, Robert Cray, who was Clapton’s opening act on his 2007 tour, hit the stage for a rendition of the Robert Johnson classic “Crossroads.”
The Live in San Diego video also includes bonus footage of Clapton and Cale rehearsing two songs for the concert — “Anyway the Wind Blows” and “Who Am I Telling You?” The DVD and Blu-ray can be pre-ordered now at Clapton’s online store.
Shortly after the release of the Live in San Diego video, Clapton will play four U.S. concerts — on March 19 and 20 at Madison Square Garden in New York City, and on March 25 and 26 at The Forum in Inglewood, California.
