
Yellville-Summit’s senior boys had a rough outing on the road as they fell to Berryville 63-57. J.T. Frazier led the Panthers with 16 points, Seth Evans provided 14, and Jacob Gentry scored 12.
Viola’s high school basketball teams were swept at home by Mammoth Spring.
The boys’ game ended with the Longhorns falling to the Bears 57-39. Sagen Godwin and Baylee Mills led Mammoth Spring with 15 points each, and Brett Mayfield added ten. The Bears improve to 18-6 on the season and 8-2 in the 2A/1A-3.
Viola did not fare any better in the girls’ contest as they lost to Mammoth Spring 73-55. The Lady Bears were led by Stephine Henry with 17 points, Bailey Hocum and Brianna Bocum scored 14 each, and Lauren Mitchell chipped in 12. Mammoth Spring is now 10-13 on the year and 4-7 in district play.
Mammoth Spring will host Izard County on Tuesday.
Salem came away with one win as they hosted three games against Izard County.
In the senior boys’ game, the Greyhounds were toppled by the Cougars 67-31. Tanner Brooks was Izard County’s top scorer with 24 points, and Justus Cooper and Taylor Reynolds each had 18. The Cougars are 23-8 overall and 12-0 in the 2A/1A-3.
Salem was also defeated by Izard County in the senior girls’ contest by a 63-37 decision. Kennedy Cooper paced the Lady Cougars with 23 points, Natalie Everett finished with 12, Sam King ended up with 11, and Jen King added ten points. Izard County improves to 21-4 on the season and 10-2 in the district.
Salem’s lone win was in the junior girls’ game as they beat Izard County 52-35. The Junior Lady Cougars were led by Laney Rider with 28 points.
Gainesville’s boys were able to pick up a victory on their home floor. The Bulldogs edged out Lutie 61-59.
Mountain Home Christian Academy split a pair of games at home.
The Eagles took the varsity game over the Christian Schools of Springfield by a score of 76-48. Cooper Long was Mountain Home Christian’s leading scorer with 24 points, and Matt Woods chipped in 13 points and dished out ten assists.
It was a different result for Mountain Home Christian’s junior varsity team as they fell to Highland 37-33. Trenton Cox led the J.V. Eagles with 18 points.
