LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) – The pedestrian struck and killed by a car while crossing a southwest Little Rock road has been identified as a homeless man.
Police said Tuesday that 51-year-old Gerald Ferrell died in the accident Sunday.
A police report says Ferrell was crossing Stagecoach Road shortly after 6:30 p.m. Sunday when he was struck. The report says Ferrell carried no identification and his body was sent to the state crime lab.
The report says the driver told officers he saw a vehicle in front of him swerve, then saw the man in the road pushing a wheelchair. The driver said he was unable to stop before striking the man.
The driver was given a blood-alcohol test and released. The results of the test haven't been released and no arrests have been announced.
