Cotter teams, Norfork boys fall in junior district openers; Flippin girls win

The 2A/1A-3 Junior District Basketball Tournament got underway Saturday at Izard County High School in Brockwell.

Cotter's boys watched their season come to an end as they were doubled up by Salem 56-28. Dylan Dwyer led the Junior Warriors with 12 points.

The Norfork boys were also one and done as they fell to top-seeded Izard County 59-29. The host Junior Cougars were led by Caleb Faulkner with 19 points, Noah Everett scored 13, and Chase Orf added ten. Izard County improves to 18-5 on the season.

Cotter was also eliminated from the girls' bracket as they lost to the number one seed from Viola by a final of 57-23. Sami McCandlis was the Junior Lady Longhorns' top scorer with 23 points.

Flippin won the other girls' game as they defeated Izard County 50-32. Kyra Hargrove paced the Junior Lady Bobcats with 17 points, and Bre Sample chipped in 15. For the Junior Lady Cougars, Laney Rider finished with 27 points.
