Monday schedule includes local basketball teams in postseason play

Basketball makes up the local Monday schedule as several high school teams will be in postseason play.



The 2A-2 Conference Tournament will wrap up its opening round at Cotter Coliseum. In girls’ action, the host Lady Warriors tip off at four p.m. against Marked Tree, and Sloan-Hendrix meets Buffalo Island Central at 7:00. On the boys’ bracket, Cotter faces Buffalo Island Central at 5:30, and Salem takes on Marked Tree at 8:30.

Norfork will begin hosting the 1A-2 North Conference Tournament at the Bobby D. Hulse Gymnasium. The girls’ game between Viola and Mammoth Spring gets underway at 4:00, Calico Rock plays back-to-back games against Hillcrest starting with the boys at 5:30, and Norfork’s boys will be paired with Viola at 8:30.

The 3A-1 East Conference Tournament gets underway at Mountain View. On the girls’ side, Marshall and Bergman tip off at 4:00, and Yellville-Summit faces Clinton at 7:00. In the boys’ games, Bergman meets Clinton at 5:30, and Yellville-Summit takes on the host Yellowjackets at 8:30.

The 1A-1 East Conference Tournament will be held at the Pioneer Pavilion on the south campus of North Arkansas College in Harrison. In boys’ action, Bruno-Pyatt gets started at 6:00 against Western Grove, and St. Joe plays Mount Judea at 8:30. Bruno-Pyatt’s girls will be matched up with Deer at 7:15.

Two area teams will begin play in the 1A-2 South Conference Tournament at West Side High School in Greers Ferry. The Timbo girls face Shirley at 4:00, and Rural Special’s boys take on Midland at 5:15.

Both of Lead Hill’s teams will play Decatur as they begin hosting the 1A-1 Northwest Conference Tournament. The girls’ game tips off at 5:30 followed by the boys’ contest.

In other high school basketball, there will be a battle between girls’ teams ranked in the Class 2 top ten in Missouri as fourth-ranked Gainesville travels to number five Norwood. Elsewhere, Lutie makes the trip to Myrtle to face Couch.



Both of Mountain Home’s freshmen teams will be at Annie Camp Junior High School in Jonesboro for the start of the 6A-East Conference Tournament. The Junior Bomber boys take the court at 4:00 against Marion, and the Mountain Home girls take on the host Lady Whirlwinds at 5:20.



In addition, the Mountain Home softball program will host a preseason parent meeting Monday evening. It will get underway at 6:30 at Bomber Gymnasium.
