Mountain Home police arrested a local man on a traffic violation Thursday after observing him switch seats with a female passenger while stopped at a red light. Mountain Home Police Chief Carry Manuel says 27 year old Michael Lynn Cox of Mountain Home is charged with felony possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia after a drug sniffing dog alerted officers on the presence of drugs during the stop. Cox, who also faces misdemeanor traffic violations, is being held in the Baxter County jail on $5,000 bond.

Chief Manuel says when the officer stopped the Cox vehicle, he claimed not to be the driver and continued to argue with the officer on the subject while refusing to submit to arrest. He was finally taken into custody and charged with driving on a suspended license. During a search of the vehicle, a substance believed to be meth and drug paraphernalia were found.
