Steve Niziol of Mountain Home was given six years probation after changing his plea to guilty on possession of drug paraphernalia charges during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday.
The vehicle being driven by the 29-year-old Niziol was stopped by a Baxter County deputy sheriff when it was noted that the one of the brake lights was not working.
The vehicle was pulled over at the parking lot of a business located along State Highway 5 South.
When the deputy checked, he found that both Niziol and his female passenger were on probation and had suspended driver’s licenses.
According to court records, permission was granted to search the vehicle. During the search, a glass pipe used to smoke methamphetamine was found wrapped in a bandana.
Niziol admitted the pipe was his, according to the probable cause affidavit and he was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and driving on a suspended driver’s license.
Niziol was given 10 days in jail on the traffic infraction and will receive credit for eight days already served. He will be allowed to spend the remaining jail time on the weekends so he will be able to keep his job.
