
Since 1905 generations of women in Cotter have served their community as members of the Saturday Club of Cotter. Annette Thrasher, a native of Cotter, says they originally began as a social club.

Over the past 100 years plus, the Saturday Club of Cotter has undertaken numerous community projects with the Walnut Hill Cemetery; Big Spring Park where they maintain a butterfly garden; the former city library and now the school libraries; student and school activities; local events including Bridge Bash, the Cotter Trout Fest and citywide yard sale; food, clothing and toy drives for children as well as supporting other local non-profits through financial and volunteer support. Last year the 17 members of the Saturday Club of Cotter donated over 10,000 volunteer hours to the community, according to Thrasher.
