Horn pleads guilty

Dustin Trevor Horn entered a guilty plea to charges related to what turned into a drug bust at a Mountain Home apartment complex in early January, and was given nine years probation and ordered to spent 12 months in one of the Community Corrections Centers in the state.

The 24-year-old Horn and two others were arrested January 2nd when Mountain Home Police went to the apartment complex as part of a theft investigation and found Horn and two females in the unit, along with five pounds of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and $1,400 in cash.

When officers entered the apartment, they found four marijuana cigarettes on top of a night stand, digital scales covered with what was described as narcotic residue and an unzipped suitcase lying next to the bed that contained multiple vacuum-seal bags that had the odor or marijuana. According to court records, evidence in the apartment suggested that what was described as a large quantity of marijuana had been processed for sale in the bedroom of the unit.

A safe located in the closet of the bedroom contained approximately five pounds of what was described as “high grade” marijuana.

In addition to the new charge, part of Horn’s suspended sentence imposed after he pled no contest in June of 2015 to charges stemming from his role in a somewhat bizarre “staged robbery” that took place in late 2014 was revoked.

During that incident, Horn was one of three friends who planned and executed what would appear to be a robbery of an acquaintance. The “robbery” took place near the intersection of Charles Blackburn Driven and County Road 30.

Two of Horn’s fellow conspirators – then 19-year-old Elizabeth Akers and 20-year-old Chayse Brown – pled guilty to their roles in the “robbery” and were sentenced to 10 years probation. They were all sentenced under provision of Act 346 giving them the opportunity to petition the court to have their records sealed if they stay out of trouble during the time they are on probation. Horn has obviously blown that opportunity with his recent run-ins with the law.

The “robbery” netted the trio nothing as the victim was able to get her wallet out of her purse before turning it over to Horn, who was the only one of the trio that did not know the victim and played the part of the robber.
