Communities and neighborhoods along the White River were bustling with activity Sunday as residents and businesses prepared from historic flooding from recent rainfall. In Nofork, at the confluence of the North Fork and White Rivers, residents were moving personal belongings to higher ground following the opening of the flood gates at Norfork Dam.
Traffic has been heavy along the river roads and Norfork Dam. Chrissy Dobson, Norfork Recorder Treasurer and acting mayor asks the public to please, stay away from evacuation areas.

Salesville resident and fishing guide Joe Salisbury says he went to help friends with homes along the North Fork as soon as he heard the corps was opening the flood gates at the dam.

Norfork Alderman Lisa Harrison, who with her husband Mike own the Norfork Trout Dock at the confluence of the two rivers, says they had plenty of advance warning the gates would be opening so they could begin evacuation.

About six miles downstream from Norfork, at Red’s Landing, Charlie Pasquan, an owner and CEO of PJ’s Restaurant and Lodge on the White River says they are taking a cautious wait and see attitude.

Pasquan says roads are clear and there has been no flooding in the valley by Red’s Landing.
