The catchy synth-driven tune is among the many star-studded collaborations that appear on Rundgren’s latest studio album, White Knight, which was released earlier this month.
The clip was shot at Daryl’s House, the music venue that Hall owns in Pawling, New York. It features Rundgren and Hall joined by Cars keyboardist Greg Hawkes, sax player Bobby Strickland and several members of Todd’s touring band, including drummer Prairie Prince, bassist Kasim Sulton and guitarist Jesse Gress.
Rundgren recently told ABC Radio that he and Hall co-wrote “Chance for Us” by taking a music track he had and putting it together with “a song idea that [Daryl] had been unable to finish.”
Todd, who produced Hall & Oates’ third album War Babies, added, “It’s kind of like, almost, a Daryl’s House moment in that the song could almost be mistaken for something out of the ’70s or ’80s.”
Todd currently is finishing up a spring U.S. trek, the White Knight ChivalRock Tour, which winds down June 10 in Syracuse, New York. He’ll follow that by hitting the road this August with Yes and Carl Palmer’s ELP Legacy on the Yestival tour. Rundgren also is a member of Ringo Starr’s All Starr Band, which will be touring the States in October and November.
