Arkansas Youth Challenge offered to at-risk youth

Completing high school can be more challeging for some teens than for others, but the Arkansas National Guard offers a program to assist at-risk youth. The Arkansas Youth Challenge will begin its next set of classes in July at Camp Robinson in North Little Rock.

Youth Challenge Recruiter Harold Hall was recently in Mountain Home meeting with prospective students at Baxter County Juvenile Services, and he says they are mainly looking for students having issues with a traditional high school.

Hall adds after the students graduate from the course, the National Guard will work with them for another year through a mentoring program.

While the program works in coordination with Juvenile Services, it’s not an official part of the court system. Hall says the Youth Challenge is strictly a volunteer program.
