The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) made two announcements affecting disaster relief that could possibly go to portions of the Twin Lakes Area. The assistance would come following the severe storms and floods occurring between April 26th and May 19th.
FEMA is reminding the public of its intent to reimburse eligible counties, local governments, schools and non-profits for costs to repair and/or replace facilities with flood or storm damage. Baxter, Marion, Izard, Boone and Newton Counties are designated eligible for public assistance under a major disaster declaration signed by President Donald Trump nearly a month ago. In addition, all 75 counties in Arkansas are eligible for the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program designed to mitigate future disaster damages.
FEMA is also notifying the public Arkansas residents living in counties near the state line may visit a state/FEMA Disaster Recovery Center in Missouri to get help registering for disaster assistance for storm or flood damage. Residents in Fulton County may live closer to centers in one of two Missouri counties. Ozark County’s center is located in the Ozark County Health Department on Third Street in Gainesville, and the Alton R-IV School District campus is housing the disaster recovery center for Oregon County. Both centers are open weekdays from nine to seven and Saturdays from nine to two.
