Christopher Mangrum of Huntsville, who fled an alleged crime scene only to be arrested on a church parking lot a short time later, made a first appearance in Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday and entered a not guilty plea to charges filed against him stemming from the attempted robbery of a local pharmacy.Mangrum is being represented by L. Gray Dellinger of Melbourne.

According to a release from Mountain Home Police Chief Carry Manuel, the 41-year-old Mangrum allegedly entered the pharmacy shortly after 2 p.m. July 5th with a bandanna over his face and latex gloves on his hands, went into an “employees only” area and demanded opiates. Pharmacy employees did not meet the demands and he left the building.

Mangrum reportedly did not use a weapon.

Mountain Home Police issued a be-on-the-lookout bulletin containing a description of the suspect and the vehicle he was in. A short time later, the vehicle was located and stopped at a church parking lot on U.S. 62/412 West. Mangrum’s mother and two children were reported to be in the vehicle when it was stopped. He is being charged with criminal attempt to commit robbery.

Judge Gordon Webb lowered Mangrum’s bond to $5,000 which he posted Saturday evening. He was basically put on house arrest, with only a few exceptions, and was ordered to reappear in court July 20th.
