Michael Scudder of Mountain Home was sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to a long list of charges, including possessing drugs and drug paraphernalia, being a felon in possession of firearms and criminal trespass during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday.
The 42-year-old Scudder and others living at the former Buzzard Roost Inn were the focus of a lengthy investigation involving the sale and use of methamphetamine, according to court records.
On September 7th last year, the owner of the property, Ian Tice, who was in jail himself, reported to staff at the Sheriff’s Office that Scudder and two other people continued to live on his property on Buzzard Roost Road without his permission.
When officers went to the location, they made contact with Scudder and found a substance in the watch pocket of his pants which field-tested positive for methamphetamine.
A search of Scudder’s living quarters also turned up two handguns. Scudder is a convicted felon and not permitted to be in contact with firearms.
The former Buzzard Roost Inn was destroyed by fire in late September last year.
Judge John Putman denied a defense request that Scudder be allowed to remain free on bond until bed space opened in the state prison system. Judge Putman said he had approved such arrangements in the past, but they had generally not worked out well.
