Teenager pleads not guilty in Missouri woman’s death

(AP) – A southwest Missouri teenager accused of killing an
80-year-old woman who offered to help him has pleaded not guilty in her death.Trystan Westrip of Republic is charged with first-degree murder and other
counts in the October 2016 death of Mary Shisler of Strafford. He was 16 at the time of the crime but is being tried as an adult. He entered his plea Friday in Greene County Court.

The Springfield News-Leader reports a probable cause statement says Westrip stabbed Shisler’s after stopping at her home to steal her car. The statement says Shisler offered to help Westrip call for help and to take him to a gas station to get gas before he stabbed her, stole several items and tried to burn down her house.
