A Mountain View man, 60-year-old Jerry Williams, is being held in the Stone County Detention Center following a stabbing incident Tuesday.

Stone County Sheriff Lance Bonds says his office received a 911 call reporting a stabbing at a residence along Highway 14.

Investigators arrived at the Stone County Medical Center where they interviewed the victim, a white male, and witnesses to the stabbing. Sheriff Bonds says Williams and the victim began arguing over a car title while at the victim’s residence. After a short time, the argument became physical, and Williams brandished a knife and stabbed the victim in his left side. After stabbing the victim, Williams left the residence in a vehicle.

During the initial investigation, Williams turned himself into authorities. In a post Miranda interview, Williams said he and the victim had fought, and, at one point, he had taken his knife and stabbed the victim.

Williams has been charged with a felony offense of first degree battery. His bond was set at $50,000.
