Randall Beard of Norfork was given nine years in prison after he pled guilty to drug related charges during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday.

Beard was arrested December 7 last year when he was spotted at a residence known by law enforcement to be associated with drug use and distribution.

When Beard and a female left the residence in a pickup truck, officers made a traffic stop after seeing the vehicle make an illegal u-turn.

The 35-year-old Beard, who was a parolee from previous drug convictions, was found to be in possession of a smoking pipe generally used in the ingestion of marijuana and about 3.5 grams of methamphetamine.

Beard also had about $3,100 in cash in his pocket.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed in the case, Beard had also been in possession of a .22-caliber rifle. As a convicted felon, Beard is not allowed to be in contact with weapons.

Beard forfeited the cash and the pickup truck to the state.
