Law enforcement and Norfork school officials are seeking information regarding damage to the plaster panther mascot that has rested under a tree gracing the front of the campus for several years.

Norfork High School Principal Bobby Hulse says the damaged panther was discovered Friday evening between 9:00 and 10:00 during the time the school was hosting the Twin Rivers Classic Basketball Tournament.

Hulse says it appears an unknown individual tossed the ornament down a set of concrete steps.

Hulse says the panther meant a great deal to him and the students, and damaging it shows a total disrespect for school property.

The Norfork High School principal says a fundraiser may be considered in the future to replace the panther. Value of the panther was estimated at $500.

Anyone with information about the act of criminal mischief is asked to call Hulse at 870-499-7191.
