MHHS basketball teams continue district play Friday at Vilonia

High school basketball makes up the local Friday schedule as the Mountain Home teams have their first road test of district play. The Bombers and Lady Bombers will wrap up the first week of 2018 at Vilonia.
Mountain Home’s girls are currently 7-8 on the season and 0-1 in the 6A/5A-2. The Lady Bombers began district play Tuesday with a three-point loss at home to Batesville. Vilonia is 12-2 and 1-0. The Lady Eagles are coming off a six-point win over Morrilton.
The Mountain Home boys are 6-9 overall and 1-0 in the district as they look to extend their winning streak to three games. The Bombers defeated Batesville earlier this week. Vilonia is 7-7 and 0-1. The Eagles edged out Morrilton three nights ago.
The junior varsity boys’ game tips off at 5 p.m. The varsity contests begin around 6:00 and can be heard on Classic Hits 101.7 and streaming live at ktlo.com.
Elsewhere in the 6A/5A-2, Batesville hosts Morrilton, and Searcy entertains Beebe.

The semifinals of the North Arkansas College High School Basketball Tournament will be held at the Pioneer Pavilion in Harrison. In the girls’ games, Cotter and top-seeded Norfork tip off at 4:00, and Bergman faces Jasper at 6:30. On the boys’ side, the number one seed from Omaha takes on Alpena at 5:15, and Yellville-Summit meets Deer at 7:45.

Gainesville’s girls will take part in the semifinals of the Sparta Lady Trojan Tournament. The Lady Bulldogs will be paired with Bradleyville at 8:30.

In other high school basketball, Bruno-Pyatt is home against St. Joe, the Bakersfield boys host Thayer, Gainesville’s boys entertain Conway, the Dora boys are home against Norwood, Mammoth Spring hosts Izard County, Melbourne travels to Piggott, Timbo makes the trip to Shirley, Rural Special entertains Concord, and Valley Springs heads to Huntsville.
