The American Red Cross is urging eligible donors to give blood or platelets as the month of January is designated as National Blood Donor Month. The Red Cross is in need of blood and platelet donors of all types to help address a winter blood donation shortage. Due to severe winter weather, over 150 blood drives across the United States have been forced to cancel causing over 5,500 blood and platelet donations to go uncollected.
Local residents will have several opportunities to donate at the Mountain Home Blood Donation Center on Highland Circle through January 31st. Other donation opportunites are on Thursday morning from 4:00 to 8:00 at Baxter Healthcare Corporation on Highway 201 North in Mountain Home, Monday from 8:30 to 2:30 at Marshall High School on Highway 65 North and from noon to 4:00 at Fulton County Hospital on North Main Street in Salem, January 16th from 9:00 to 2:00 at Melbourne High School on Lacrosse Road, January 17th from 11:00 to 3:00 at Arkansas State University-Mountain Home, January 19th from 9:30 to 2:00 at St. Joe High School on Highway 65 South, January 22nd from 1:00 to 5:00 at Brown’s Furniture and Appliance on Main Street in Mammoth Spring, January 23rd from 8:00 to 1:00 at Ranger Boats in Highway 178 in Flippin and January 24th from 11:00 to 5:00 at North Arkansas College’s south campus on Pioneer Drive in Harrison.
