
Basketball makes up the local Friday schedule as Mountain Home’s high school teams will return to the Hangar. It’s Sweetheart Royalty night as the Bombers and Lady Bombers will welcome Greenbrier to the Twin Lakes Area.
Mountain Home’s girls are currently 8-10 on the season and 1-3 in the 6A/5A-2. The Lady Bombers fell to Beebe on Wednesday. Greenbrier is 3-16 and 1-3. The Lady Panthers got routed by Morrilton on Tuesday.
The Mountain Home boys are leading the district standings at 9-9 and 4-0. The Bombers picked up a 12-point win two nights ago at Beebe. Greenbrier is a game behind Mountain Home at 13-7 and 3-1. The Panthers suffered their first district loss Tuesday at the hands of Morrilton.
The annual “Pitch in for Kids” event will be held at the first timeout or at the end of the first quarter of the boys’ game to benefit The Call of Baxter County. Fans bringing a new pair of kid’s pajamas or socks can toss them on the court, and the items will go to Baxter county’s 38 Foster kids.
The junior varsity boys’ game tips off at 5 p.m. The varsity contests begin around 6:00 and can be heard on Classic Hits 101.7 and streaming live at ktlo.com.
Elsewhere in the 6A/5A-2, Batesville hosts Searcy, and Beebe travels to Morrilton.
In other high school basketball, Cotter makes the short trip to Flippin, Norfork heads to Calico Rock, Yellville-Summit entertains Berryville, Gainesville’s boys travel to Theodosia to face Lutie, Viola makes the trip to Mammoth Spring, Salem heads to Brockwell to take on Izard County, St. Joe is home against Lead Hill, Marshall hosts Bergman, Mountain View travels to Tuckerman, Rural Special makes the trip to Pleasant Plains to play Midland, Omaha entertains Alpena, Western Grove heads to Deer, and Jasper travels to Mount Judea.
