CONWAY, Ark. (AP) Jalone Friday scored 18 points and Jaren Lewis scored 13 with 11 rebounds and Abilene Christian pulled away in the second half for an 80-63 win over Central Arkansas on Saturday.
The Wildcats led 38-37 at halftime before turning a 63-57 advantage with just under six minutes left to 70-57 with a layup from Friday, a 3-pointer from Payten Ricks and Jaylen Franklin’s dunk in a two-minute span. The Bears went scoreless for 4 1/2 minutes and missed six shots. Ricks and Franklin sandwiched dunks between Jordan Howard’s layup for the Bears for a 17-point lead with 77 seconds left.
Franklin added 16 points for Abilene Christian (13-8, 5-3 Southland Conference) and Ricks and Tevin Foster each scored 11.
Howard scored 28 points for the Bears (10-11, 4-4) on 10-of-18 shooting and made four of Central Arkansas’ five 3-pointers. The rest of the Bears combined to shoot 13 of 39 (33 percent).
