The American Red Cross will have more local opportunities for donations beginning Friday. The Red Cross is in need of blood and platelet donors of all types to help address a shortage with the recent winter storms and influenza outbreak. This year, nearly 600 blood drives across the United States have been forced to cancel causing over 17,500 blood and platelet donations to go uncollected.

Local residents will have several opportunities to donate at the Mountain Home Blood Donation Center on Highland Circle Friday through 26th. Other donation opportunities are Friday from 8:30 in the morning to 1:30 at Flippin High School, Tuesday from 1:00 in the afternoon to 6:00 at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church in Mountain Home, Wednesday from 8:00 to 6:00 at Baxter Regional Medical Center, and February 26th from 1:00 to 5:00 at Mammoth Spring High School.

To make an appointment or for more information, call 1-800-RED-CROSS (1-800-733-2767), or go online to redcross.org.
