The Cotter High School girls’ basketball team fell short of a third place finish in the 2A-2 Conference Tournament on Friday. The Lady Warriors fell to Salem 60-46 at East Poinsett County High School in Lepanto.
Two area teams went home Friday night with championship trophies after the 1A-1 Northwest Conference Tournament came to an end at Alpena. Fourth-seeded Lead Hill won the girls’ title after edging out the host Lady Leopards 58-56. Top-seeded Omaha captured the boys’ championship with a 61-47 victory over Kingston.
The Western Grove boys were crowned the champions of the 1A-1 East Conference Tournament at the Pioneer Pavilion on the south campus of North Arkansas College in Harrison. The Warriors needed overtime, but they got past top-seeded Deer 62-56.
