According to the arrest affidavit in the case, Mountain Home Police officers responded to a residential burglary call in December where the victim said two males broke into his garage and stole an air compressor, along with other items. The victim said he tried to catch them, but they fled on foot. The victim noticed other items had been stacked close to the side door.
At approximately 2:30 the same morning he said the pair had returned.
The homeowner confronted them with a baseball bat, struck one of the males a couple of times and struck their vehicle, a red Dodge Caravan parked in the victim’s driveway. The pair attempted to flee. The driver, who was unidentified in the report, drug the other male along a chain link fence leaving him behind to flee on foot.
After looking at potential suspects, the victim was able to positively identify Hitt.
Later that day, an officer noticed a red Dodge Caravan parked behind a Mountain Home residence. Officers found both Hitt and Cooper inside.
Cooper allegedly admitted breaking into the garage twice and stealing a weedeater and other items. The stolen air compressor was found outside the residence, and more stolen items were identified inside the home.
In the newest case, the additional stolen items were stolen tools identified by another victim who lives near Cooper’s residence.
Cooper and Hitt also face charges in a separate case involving the January theft of a skid steer track loader.
According to online court records, Hitt has seven open court cases. Cooper now has three.
