murder in the September 2011 killing of a woman at a Springfield hotel.Terry Morrison was convicted Wednesday in the shooting death of 37-year-old Pristina Tyner at the Homestay Inn.
The Springfield News-Leader reports it was the second time Morrison was tried in Tyner’s death. He was charged in 2011 but prosecutors dropped the charges after a key witness changed her testimony during a preliminary hearing.
Prosecutors say Morrison killed Tyner because he believed she was cooperating with a police investigation, although it’s not clear if that was true.
Morrison’s public defender argued that another person who was at the motel at the time killed Tyner.
Morrison faces a maximum punishment of 30 years in prison.
