A Howell County man suffered serious injuries Saturday afternoon in a one-vehicle accident in Ozark County. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 43-year-old Ty Ray Carter of Caulfield was flown by helicopter to Cox Medical Center South in Springfield from the accident scene three miles east of Tecumseh.

Carter was traveling eastbound on U.S. Highway 160 when his SUV traveled off the right side of the roadway, overcorrected and went off the left side of the road. The vehicle then overturned, and Carter was ejected from the SUV before it came to rest off the roadway. Carter was reportedly not wearing a safety device.

A hospital spokesperson says Carter is listed as a patient in the Neurotrauma Intensive Care Unit. His SUV had moderate damage in the 2:30 p.m. accident.
