The Baxter County Sheriff’s Office will conduct a firearms qualification shoot for retired law enforcement officers April 20th at 8:30. The shoot will be held at the firing range on County Road 782 off Arkansas Highway 201 North.
The cost is ten dollars payable in advance. The retired officer must bring his or her own firearm, and certain restrictions apply. Any retired law enforcement officers interested in participating will need to visit the sheriff’s office to register in advance by filling out a written application and sign a release and waiver of liability form.
The course was developed and selected by the sheriff’s certified firearms instructors. Officers successfully passing the course will be issued an official card from the sheriff’s office attesting to have satisfactory the course. Retired officers will not be issued a qualification card from the Arkansas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards since the Baxter County Sheriff’s office does not participate in that process.
