3-vehicle collision injures area man, claims life of NC resident

A three-vehicle accident Monday on U.S. Highway 65 in Bee Branch involving a dump truck has claimed the life of a North Carolina resident and injured a Marshall man.

According to the Arkansas State Police, 47-year-old Steven Horton of Marshall was southbound when his pickup crossed the centerline and struck a second vehicle driven by 53-year-old Jesse Taylor, Jr. of Kinston, North Carolina. After impact, Horton’s vehicle continued southbound striking a dump truck.

The North Carolina man was pronounced dead at the scene. While Horton was reported injured, the report notes he was not transported to a medical center for treatment.

The weather was clear and the road was dry at the time of the 1:17 p.m. accident.
