A Stone County man, 36-year-old Royce Callahan of Fox, has been arrested following a domestic disturbance in which he is alleged to have choked and struck a female as she held a toddler in her arms.Stone County Sheriff Lance Bonds says deputies from his office responded to a physical disturbance Thursday in the Fox area.
After arriving in the area, deputies contacted the female victim at the Fox Post Office. The victim told officers Callahan had choked her while in the kitchen of a residence.
At one point, the victim had attempted to gather clothes in order to leave the residence. However, Callahan allegedly prevented her from leaving by blocking her passage. According to the victim, he allegedly choked and struck her several times as she held a toddler in her arms. A short time later, the woman was successful in fleeing the residence and contacting authorities.
On Monday, Callahan was arrested at his residence and has been charged with a felony count of endangering the welfare of a minor, as well as two misdemeanor counts of domestic battery.
His bond was set at $10,000.
