The Calico Rock Museum hosted a successful Annual Conference of the Arkansas Museums Association Tuesday through Thursday. Seventy nine museum professionals from small, medium and large museums throughout Arkansas attended the conference. Museum officials say it was the largest attendance of any AMA conference hosted outside of Little Rock in AMA history.
The conference included a tour of historic sites in Calico Rock, including the East Calico Historic District and the historic Trimble Cabin. Attendees participated in educational sessions on topics relevant to museum professionals, toured the museums of the Calico Rock Museum System, enjoyed networking, and presented the association’s annual awards.
Museums in attendance at the conference included Cotton Plan History Museum, Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, Old State House Museum, Historic Arkansas Museum, Clinton Presidential Center, Delta Gateway Museum, Shiloh Museum of Ozark History and dozens of other museums.
The Calico Rock Museum Foundation expresses appreciation to the Calico Rock 20/20 Group, City of Calico Rock, Calico Rock First Baptist Church, Sysco Foods, Mitchell’s Park Street Pharmacy, Lola’s Gardens & Florals, and Ozarks Coca-Cola for their support of the conference.
The foundation says the volunteer efforts of Claire Cresto, Bob Carlson, Barbara Carlson, Patricia Kilpatrick, David Sugg, Kedra Sugg, Bill Lane, Tamme Smith, Wayne Wood, Jill Easton, Freda Hardison, Donnie Orf, Robbie Purdom, Austin Pool, Melissa Traversie, Randy Hiles, Ashley Crawford, and Drew Curtis were invaluable.
The Foundation also thanks its staff Gloria Sanders, My Kim Parnell, Denver Hankins, Jan Bufford, Cholie Crawford, and Glenda Herschberger for their hard work in making the conference a success.
